About Me

Personal and Professional Fusion

As an expat myself, I bring a unique blend of personal and professional experiences to my mediation practice. Living and working across borders has provided me with invaluable insights into navigating cultural nuances, communication challenges, and interpersonal dynamics—skills that are particularly beneficial in mediating family and workplace disputes with an international element.

Specialized Mediation Services

I specialize in mediating family and workplace disputes, leveraging over a decade of diverse international experience. Whether you are navigating complex family dynamics, such as divorce, custody agreements, or inheritance disputes, or seeking to resolve workplace conflicts to enhance productivity and morale, I offer tailored mediation services designed to meet your unique needs.

Legal and Mediation Background

As a mediator, I cannot and I do not give legal advice, however, having a legal background does equip me with a deeper understanding of the legal nuances. My legal background spans various roles, including serving as an attorney and legal advisor in the United States and internationally. Certified in the US as a Family Court Mediator and Guardian ad Litem, and in Germany as a Cross-Border Mediator, I am skilled at facilitating constructive conversations, fostering understanding, and developing mutually beneficial resolutions.

Passion for Advocacy

I am deeply committed to advocating for children's rights, with a focus on research, training, and awareness-raising initiatives. My advocacy work has informed my mediation practice, enhancing my ability to address sensitive issues with empathy, compassion, and cultural competence. As a certified Guardian ad Litem, I am well-versed in child welfare and the interplay of rights and responsibilities as they pertain to children.

Education and Certifications

I hold an LLM in International and European Law, a Juris Doctor in Law, and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. My academic achievements are complemented by specialized certifications in Family Court Mediation, Cross-Border Mediation Training, Guardian ad Litem certification, and other relevant coursework.

Multilingual Skills

Fluent in English and Dutch, with intermediate proficiency in German and beginner-level Arabic, I am dedicated to fostering cross-cultural understanding and inclusivity in all aspects of my work.

Areas of Practice

Family Mediation

Family mediation provides a structured and supportive environment for families navigating challenging situations such as divorce, custody arrangements, inheritance disputes, and other familial conflicts. I help families communicate effectively, make informed decisions, and reach mutually acceptable resolutions while prioritizing the well-being of all family members, especially children. By fostering sensitivity, discretion, and empathy, I assist families in addressing emotional issues and transitioning to new family dynamics with dignity and respect.

Workplace Mediation

Workplace mediation aims to resolve conflicts and disputes within organizations to promote a positive work environment, enhance productivity, and bolster employee morale. With workplace mediation, I facilitate discussions between employees, managers, or teams to address issues such as interpersonal conflicts, communication breakdowns, misunderstandings, performance-related disputes, harassment or discrimination allegations, and disagreements over policies or procedures. Through active listening, impartiality, and conflict resolution techniques, I help parties find common ground, rebuild trust, and develop mutually beneficial solutions that contribute to a harmonious and collaborative workplace culture.

Community Mediation

Community mediation focuses on resolving conflicts and promoting understanding among individuals, groups, or organizations within a community setting. In this field, I work with diverse stakeholders to address a wide range of disputes, including neighbourhood conflicts, landlord-tenant disputes, interpersonal disagreements, property disputes, noise complaints, and other community-related issues. By facilitating open dialogue, promoting empathy, and fostering collaborative problem-solving, I empower community members to find sustainable solutions that preserve relationships, promote social cohesion, and strengthen community bonds.
